Reversion Application

Where an approved inspector has cancelled an initial notice or can no longer provide a building control service for a project that has commenced, the work reverts to our control.

Where an approved inspector/registered building control approver has cancelled an initial notice or can no longer provide a building control service for a project that has commenced, the work needs to be reverted back under the control of the Local Authority.

This can be done by submitting a reversion application to LBCP.

We are aware of recent cases where private sector building control bodies, formerly known as an approved inspectors and (now known as RBCAs), are no longer able to undertake their function and have cancelled a large number of initial notices which adversely affects builders and building owners.

If you are affected by this, please contact us on 0116 272 7533 or email building.control@blaby.gov.uk

We will discuss with you the requirement for making the application, which will include the items listed below:

  • a completed reversion application form
  • plans and specifications
  • as much information as possible to help us to determine that any works undertaken to date comply with the relevant regulations
  • a fee which will be determined based on the works taking place (this will not include VAT)
